East Petersburg, PA. Art of Chainsaw Carving, An Insider’s Look at 18 Artists Working Against the Grain, begins with a profile of Kenyon Kaiser whose lifework is exhibited at Trees of Mystery in Klamath, California. Art of Chainsaw Carving, written by Jessie Groeschen, chronicles the development of chainsaw carving and events that draw hundreds of competitors and thousands of spectators. But the early artists like Kenyon Kaiser, had no mentors for their chainsaw art, they were exploring a new art-form. Eventually Kenyon discovered a venue for his art – he was commissioned by Trees of Mystery to carve a monumental Paul Bunyan in the world’s largest piece of milled redwood. Six months later, he had created 80-plus sculptures and carved murals on the Trail of Tall Tales – a monument to the redwoods at Trees of Mystery.
A full-color gallery of Kenyon Kaiser’s art is found in Art of Chainsaw Carving.
