May
14, 2004
East
Petersburg , PA: Fox Chapel Publishing, one of the nation's leading
publishers of woodworking books and magazines, announces the addition
of two new members to their management team.
Paul
McGahren has joined Fox Chapel in the newly-created role of
Director of Sales. McGahren, who has relocated to Lancaster from New Fairfield,
CT, will oversee the sales efforts for Fox Chapel's library of more than
200 woodworking titles, as well as direct the advertising sales for the
publisher's two magazines, Wood
Carving Illustrated and Scroll
Saw Workshop. McGahren comes to Fox Chapel after 11
years with Taunton Press—publishers of Fine Woodworking , Fine
Gardening and many other popular magazine and book titles—where
he most recently managed retail sales in its book division.
According
to Fox Chapel's president, Alan Giagnocavo, McGahren brings not only important
sales management skills to the company, but also deep industry knowledge.
“Because Paul has spent more than a decade in the woodworking publishing
industry, he is familiar with our markets and key industry leaders, which
will help take us to the next level and launch some new products we are
developing,” he stated.
Troy
Thorne has been hired as Fox Chapel's new creative director.
Thorne, of Lancaster, PA, will oversee design and production of the publisher's
two magazines, as well as creative development and printing of their more
than 200 woodworking books—particularly the more than 30 new books the
company develops each year. In addition, Thorne will lead Fox Chapel's
interactive marketing efforts and will join the company's Internet team
in launching three web sites in 2004.
Thorne
comes to Fox Chapel after more than 10 years with one of the nation's
top 10 business-to-business advertising agencies—Lancaster, PA-based Godfrey
Advertising, where he most recently served as Senior Art Director.
Giagnocavo
states that Thorne's broad base of knowledge will be a great asset to
the company. “Troy brings 10 years' experience in creative marketing,
ranging from corporate branding, integrated marketing campaigns, advertising,
designing corporate websites, illustration, photo imaging and multimedia.
These skills will be essential for Fox Chapel as we continue to grow,”
Giagnocavo said. “In addition, Troy is himself an accomplished woodworker,
so he appreciates the warmth and beauty of wood and can bring that into
the design of our books and magazines,” he said.
