I just finished this mallet, made it on my lathe, my last one is getting worn out. It is Ash made from leftovers of a baseball bat blank, made it to fit my hands. It's 8" in length total and the head is 2 3/4" diameter. Finished with beeswax It's stuck under my fingernails in the photos. tell me what ya think.

Nice. I took an intro spindle turning course at the North Bennet Street school in Boston, and the two projects we did over 4-5 days were an awl (our own design) and a mallet (design almost identical to that).

Well, actually, mine's a bit different - it's got a bunch of flat spots where I've used it to seat a spur drive in work!
