Elmer Gunderson of Prince George B.C. carved this bench out of Wester Red Ceder from the west coast of B.C. The whole bench came out of one log 34" wide and 5' tall. Started with chainsaws and worked my way down to hand grinders and chissels. Finshed with 4 coats of thinned Varethane satin. Giddy Up.

Beautiful. And the bench is pretty nice too.
Sorry. Feeble attempt at humor.
That is quite impressive work, especially coming from one log of those dimensions. Not to mention how nicely everything matches.
Well done.

I do not believe that there is anything truly perfect.... But that will not stop me from trying to achieve it. I always try my hardest to make the wood into something beautiful, after all it's what it deserves.
I know and can see clearly exactly what, I want to carve.
But on the long journey from my head through my arms,
So much is lost before it gets to my fingers and tools
