Chessboard measures a little over 3' square and features a 'parchment paper looking' map of the Gettysburg battlefield on the playing surface and cannon in the corners. Kings and queens are Presidents Davis and Lincoln and their wivies (Lincoln stands about 8.5" tall...pawns about 4" tall), bishops are Generals Lee, Jackson, Meade, and Grant (Grant is holding a whiskey bottle behind his back), knights are riderless horses, castles are period wheelchairs on top of a brick pedestals, pawns are foot soldiers ( the pawns took almost as long as the playing pieces). Everything made from Hard Maple. Made for a good friend of mine.
