Hi fezder,
I used my bench grinder to cut the file to length, by grinding a V where you want it to part. You don't have to grind all te way through, usually you can break it when it's thin enough.
I just ground it down using the round end of my bench belt sander for the concave portion.
I used the bench grinder to shape the fish tail
Just keep it cool while grinding, by dipping it in water.
