    Hi Laura,

I've followed David Western's blog a while now and purchased his book. I'm particularly interested in your joint project and followed your blog since it started but didn't make the connection with the name 'Blake'.

David Western has taken the art of lovespoon carving in exciting directions and has articulated a forward looking stance that remains true to the tradition of the craft.

Your own site, is in my personal list of Lovespoon carving sites that I refer to for inspiration. So I am particularly flattered by your comments. I've got a long way to go before I can consider myself to have made even a small contribution to the craft – I've only carved two spoons so far.

Re home made tools – Couldn't be simpler, piano wire – end flattened with hammer – the flattened end sharpened and honed. 'Carving Path' forum has posts on making tools, I skipped any thing that was too much trouble.

    David.
