HI Bob, the spammers are having a field day lately, while talking with my cousin (Brad), who has worked with a computer firm for 20 yrs, he tells me first thing that we are using V Bulletin 3.86, and says that they have a newer version out, 4.0 which might have more features for deterring spammers. the other thing he mentioned that we might try is the captcha system, I think that is the way to spell it, it is filling in numbers, letters in order to sign in. He said it might be something we would want to try on our regular members first. I've been banning people using this IP address for quite some time,204.124.182.169 , check out this IP address as there is (I'm guessing) at least 150 spammers . the thing is, that even after that address is blocked, they are still able to use the peoples names that have all ready signed up. It took me 30 minutes just to delete the spammers starting with the "A". Just something else to fill your head on a busy day. Hugh

Would love to get more info from him but posting was last Dec. Any way to get in touch? I am on info over load, have been 4 days weeding thru info and keep changing my mind based on what I find and hoping to avoid an expensive mistake. HELP! Thanks. Gloria

95.64.12.17 Hi Bob, I've been working on keeping the user of this IP address from polluting the site. I've deleted over 100 of his user names, and he is still posting them four to a time. Is there a possibility of banning his IP address ??

Hi Bob, while deleting spammers, I've started deleting their ads as well. Have been wondering why they would keep signing up, when we keep deleting the same spammers, rarely do they post, I deleted one the other day that had joined WCI in 2009, hadn't made any posts, I checked, and he was clearly a spammer, took his name from the birthday files. I believe they post their links for the benefit of the search engines, and if we delete the ads, it might help cut down on the spammers. Just a thought ??

    Bob,
I seem to have things working now. After several failures things are now being accepted. The new website design is great, by the way.

    Bob,
I have tried to post on the forum and/or start a thread several times. It seems as though nothing is accepted. Do you have any suggestions?
