Default Trees in Black Walnut

Hi all,
This isn't your usual piece of found wood, but I did find it in an antique store a few years ago and its just been in my way ever since until all of a sudden I had an idea. Our home is a raised ranch so there is a large high wall in the foyer with stairs going up to the living room and also down to the rec room, my wife always wanted something large to hang there. This piece is 8 1/2 feet long by 17" high and only 1" thick. I've been working on it for several weeks here & there and am finally tired of it so here it is. Used a combination of angle grinder, dremel and hand tools, even went out and bought my first orbit sander which really helped. Main thing is that its out of my way and my wife loves it. Only natural danish oil applied. Oh yeah, these are a new species of trees, I'll just call them "Wegiel" trees. Hope you like it and thanks for taking a peek.
Dan

Hi Bob,
Love my carving bench, LOL, got a big chuckle out of that! I didn't have a place big enough to hold an 8 1/2 foot board so the tailgate worked just fine. Glad you like it, the wood speaks for itself, I just did a little polishing, thanks.

Wonderful piece Dan - quite a work of art. Do you free hand the picture as you carve or pre-design with sketches?

An outstanding relief, Dan. It's not often that we see such large projects on this site.
