Default Rough ole Oak Piece

Hi all,
Haven't had time for much carving lately, busy outside gettin' ready for winter. A friend brought this over and said "Bet ya can't do nothing to this!" I immediately pointed out the bird sitting on a nest in the middle of the piece and he asked "What ya been smokin'? Took my angle grinder to it and with a little bit of detail ended up with this. The piece is oak, 19" wide, 17" high and about 5" deep. Soaked it with walnut danish oil, really sucked it up, hope you like it and thanks for taking a peek.
Dan

"What ya been smokin?" Ha!

Excellent piece, Dan. Of course, he's gonna be bringing you more "challenges" now . . .

Hey Merle,
If you enlarge the first pic there is a definate outline of a bird almost dead center, its even a tad lighter. I immediately saw it there and the surrounding wood looked like a steep cliff with that bird sittin' in a nest. I sure appreciate your very nice comments my friend, thank you.
