Default "Potlatch Gifts" Pacific Northwest Style

Here is a little white cedar log I sketched out and finished with my trusty palm carvers. I like doodling Pacific Northwest native style pieces sometimes, I find it good for practicing my undercuts and outlining.

The first pic is one one I just finished called Potlatch Gifts, and the other is a little carving I call Owl Goes Fishing. Hope everyone is having a productive January! I have carved more this month so far, than I have in the last year sadly. My real factory job has been demanding mandatory overtime..but I am starting to push back, cut the hours and forcing myself to spend at least a couple hours each day, doing what I love, even though I'm very worn out. So far I have finished a crow, two cottonwood houses, these two, and am starting on a 4ft high Cottonwood village. So hopefully many more pieces to come Take care all!

Jon

Hey Jon,
Been a while, good to see you back. Really like what you've done here, both pieces are super. Have to admit that I'm partial to the first one but only because of my taste, I like the natural wood. Fantastic job and hopefully you'll start having more time to carve, take care.
Dan

Great carvings Jon love your interpretation of these pieces how big are they hard to tell in the picture. Are they carved from cedar nice to see someone produce something they love and take time for yourself.

The eyes and the colors show me "mid-coast." Good job. I am most pleased to see that your work is not a simple copy by any means. Plus, there's lots to look at in each piece.

Hi Jon, me too I love both of them. You have been very productive I can imagin it has taken some effort to do your carving, just look at the reward. Two really nice carvings and more on the way and that you have done already.
Loved seeing them
Love your little Otter Avatar did you do the art work? It's very well done and perfect for your Log on Name.
