Default Paco

Paco here is from a pattern by a Javo Sinta. (Weirdest thing with that link. The first time you click it, it redirects you to a Web ring page. Click it again, and it goes to Javo Sinta's page.)

Paco is five inches tall, carved from mesquite that I harvested in the back yard. I cut this out on the bandsaw a few months back, and started carving on it with edge tools. Then I set it aside. I decided to finish it yesterday, as my first project with the new Foredom that my wife bought me for my birthday three or four weeks ago.

I made plenty of mistakes on this one, the first of which was getting the body lopsided when I cut out the blank. Still, it turned out okay. My wife said, "he's cute," which for her is high praise, so I'll call it success.

Thank you, Dan. And you're right: if the wife likes it, it's all worthwhile. Besides, it's only right that she gets the first thing carved with the gift she gave me.

I like Paco a lot, really cute!
I have my little doggy you carved on the computer, my granddaughter loves him! She said, "you should carve more of these grandma." I told her my friend in Texas carved that for me. She thought that was really cool!

Thanks for the kind words, Terry. Yes, that guy has some cool patterns. I've downloaded his patterns for the horse, the giraffe, the flamingo, and the penguin. Will be carving them soon.

Thanks, Sharon. I think it's the smile that makes Paco so cute. It was a fun carving.

I'm glad you like the little dog. And that your granddaughter does, too. I love seeing people smile at my little wood hackings.

Jim, your wife is right that was just what I was thinking 'he is so cute'! Paco is a keeper and what a nice carving job you did. I havent carved mesquite is it pretty hard wood? Burned chips in the BBQ love the smell when it burns. Thanks for sharing
