Default Owl in Oak

Hi all,
I was out at the woodshed getting firewood to split up a couple days ago and noticed this hunk of oak and immediately saw a little owl standing. Remembered to grab the camera to take a couple of pics along the way. Nothing fancy but I really love the grain in the wood, the owl is secondary but kinda cute. This piece is 23" long, 11" high and 7" deep. I put dark walnut danish oil on to bring out the grain and make the piece look old. Used a chainsaw, dremel and hand tools with a bunch of sanding to bring out the grain a little better. Thanks for taking a peek at my last carving for 2011, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Dan

Dan,

I need you to come down here to my house and check out my wood pile. I'm thinking that maybe the wood is different up in your neck of the woods.Because when I go out to the woodshed I don't seem to see any of the magical things you see. Now that could be because usually when I am out to the woodshed its my wife who took me and I am usually in trouble.

Really beautiful piece that you have carved here.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

Hi Al,
Thank you mate for your very nice comments. We've got that little critter near the fireplace so we can watch the shadows flicker on him.
Cheers,
Dan

Hi Mark,
One of these days I'm gonna take a day trip and come and visit you as long as you'll let me look through your wood pile. Thanks my friend,
Dan

Hello Dick,
You are too kind, all I try to do is a little bit of enhancing to an already beautiful piece of wood. Thank you my friend for the New Years wish and the same to you and yours.
Dan

And a beautifull owl it is. I have always been fond of wood grain and once in awhile I am suprised by natures artwork. You have transformed what could have been a moments heat into something that will warm the heart for a lifetime
