Default Ol' hoss wip

Title: O' HOSS WIP
Medium: Cottonwood Bark
Size: 11 3/4" inches Tall x 3" Wide x 2 5/8" inches Deep

OK I'm done carving ornaments, can't work on my outdoor Locust carving I have to wait for my cataract surgery to heal before I can bang away with my mallet.
Soooooo why not carve a woodspirit.

O' HOSS is in that stage where I'm ploting and placing where the facial features are going to go. I may add a pipe, haven't quite decided yet. Instead of a hat I may just add hair..I really like to just start carving and just let it evolve

As always I value your comments.

Kathy, he's looking great. I love seeing work evolve. It's so interesting that you first name him and then let the carving take you on a flexible path. I would do it the opposite way: I would carve him and then name him by whatever the carving suggested. Looking forward to seeing more of Ol Hosses evolution. Have you named your locust man yet?

Hi Patrick:
Thank you, for the welcome back and yes I'm truly back at it. Some times it's good to back away and recharge.

Hi Jay:
Thank you, I don't always pre-name my carvings only if the name comes to me right away. Letting a carving evolve to become what it will be is always rewarding for me.
No there is no name for 'locust man' yet my hubby said he wanted to name him. So probably won't have a name until it's finished. I'm anxious to get back to carving on 'locust man' by the way I like that name. Will check with the Doc when I have my op on Thursday.

Kathy, I know you won’t, but don’t be tempted to push ahead of the Doc’s recommendation. Discretion is the better part of valor you know.

Welcome back Kathy...it's to see that you're well again. Ol' Hoss looks great so far...maybe a pipe and a furry hat on top.

Hi Patrick & Bob K:

Hey thank you guys for the pearls of wisdom I'm being a reall good girl (ok old girl) and watching what I do and using my eye drops. I even have been weaving my safety glasses while carving Ol' Hoss.
