That is a great woodspirit! He looks like he may have come back with you from a Caribbean cruise.

Hi Millard,
Yeah he did get quite a bit of color. I grabbed the wrong can of stain. I have one I thinned down, but I grabbed the full color one.
Oh well, live and learn. I immediately made a label for the one I thinned.

Wanda so it didnt turn out to be the indian that you envisioned never the less it turned out to be a really interesting piece. It is your interpretation of the piece that you found and that makes it even more special. You know Wanda it doesnt matter what tree carving I do it never ever turns out exactly the way I envisioned it would. I just improvise as I go and I am rarely dissatisfied with the end result and my customers never are they always love what I do. So sit back take a bow you did really great cant wait to see your next creation.
Colin

Hi Wanda!
I have the same problems when doing my Spirits. I always want to chuck it in the can halfway through because it just doesn't look right to me. However, I just let the wood keep talking and in the end I get a great Spirit! Yours is in that middle stage so don't give up! He's just trying to tell you what should be where!
