Wow! I am so impressed with so many posts. If anyone wants a direction page for making these or a "how to" start a Comfort Birds chapter email me at kurtnjudy@yahoo.com. Our group is almost all first time carvers so we stick with basswood and hand sand and/or use a Dremel barrel sander with two different grits and finish off some with Minwax water based stain (in tubes) then polyurethane and furniture wax

Hi Jim,

I am from Quebec, Canada and did exactly the same thing - trying my new Foredom on these birds. As well I am playing with different king of wood - Red cedar, white cedar, Wenge, Zebrano, Padouk, Par Amarillo, Amarante.
I am now starting to make/carve supports for these birds with Found wood which give them a totally different look.

Bye

Pat
