Default Cedar Koi

Hi all,
Found this hunk of cedar at an antique store, its the first cedar I've ever carved, loved the aroma but the wood was very dry and pourous. Due to the color I decided that I'd do my interpretation of a Koi. The piece is 14" wide and high and approx 5" deep, used an angle grinder, dremel, hand tools and SANDPAPER! Put several coats of danish oil on but it was like a sponge and disappeared as soon as I applied it, ended up dull so then I decided to put on a couple coats of spar for the shiny/wet look, even remembered to take a couple progression pics. Hope you like it and thanks for taking a peek.
Dan

Great craving Dan. I like carving cedar, end grain really sucks up what ever you put on for a finish

Hi Eric,
Love the look of the wood and did seem to carve well, next time I'll stay away from the endgrain, thanks for the tip and comments.
