Hi all, As soon as I ground the bark off this limb I invisioned an otter lying on his back with some type of shell on his chest, thought about filling the hole but decided to just polish up the "shell" to make it look as though he just finished lunch. He's 34" long and about 4" across with some wild grain running every which way because of all the side branches. Used an angle grinder, dremel and hand tools then finished him with a few coats of Dark Walnut Danish oil. Put a couple progression pics, hope you like him and thanks for taking a peek. Dan |

Aaaaah! This is wonderful Dan! Now I know why you haven't been here much. He does look like he just got his belly full and taking a little snooze. Reminds me of the otters here after eating an abalone. Very neat carving!

Hi Sharon, Glad you like this little guy. Not very familiar with otters other than what I've seen on TV and what I recall they're always lounging around on their backs with some type of food on their chest. Thank you my friend. Dan |
