Default Working the refsal pattern

The score is officially two finished carvings flat plane style and 5 carvings in the scrap pile flat plane style ggggrrrrrrrrrrr ! I have a really hard time bringing the arms out while making the body and arms one piece, they look more like flippers than arms lol. This is also the first carving Ive done that the hat and head are one piece. I went to Gene's video's and got some really good lessons which enabled me to get this far. Thank you Gene for your videos. I realize that the face is still more caricature than flat plane, but its who comes out at the business end of my knife. Thanks for looking and comments are much appreciated.
Dave

A very nice carving..great detail work, and I am impressed with the argyle on the vest...that is hard to do and I know I couldn't have done it as well as you did.

Thanks all for the positive feedback, I really like this style of carving and am looking forward to working in it. Thanks Gene your a real attribute to the art.
The vest was actually the most easy part of the carving, I free handed drew the lines on with a pencil, left to right then right to left. Easy to adjust the lines when your done. I then burned the lines with my wood burning pen, then used a small shader to do the dark squares and left the light squares natural wood. I burn the shoes for color also, the light highlights look like scuff marks.
