Very nice carving! Yours took longer cause it was hiding better than his, that's all. I did one too, but, changed it to fit the piece of wood I was going to burn for kindling.
Was under 2 hours but then I didn't give him a walking stick and he is a little shorter!

Doc - I say go for it. What's the worst that can happen, an even less attractive troll? I think the only thing that can go wrong with a troll is if it somehow ends up too cute. Hope you'll share it when you do carve it

Robert - I have that one bookmarked for some other time, so there might be some competition for his affection. Maybe he wouldn't look so grumpy with a companion. I'd like to see her when you're done.
