Default Some first attempts (#1)

Please excuse my indulgence (I broke these image uploads up into 6 posts).

I just started carving a couple months back and have recently begun to do small figure carving from 1”x1”x2” blocks. Here is my first attempt, from a tutorial I found on line.

This one is actually a bit larger 1”x1”x3” slightly modified from a Gene Messer tutorial. (Thanks Gene, you have been a big inspiration)

An original design, inspired by a movie (13th Warrior) with Vikings.

Default Some first attempts (#6) - last for now

Here is the latest carving just finished (#6). It is a modified version of the one Jack Price does in his book. I am getting better at painting, keeping it much more of a wash seems to work and look a lot better.

Ken,
For a couple months carving I'd say you are well on your way!
All of them are great!

Great job on carving the little guys. I really like carving them and am a big fan of Jack prices carvings. The one you did is excellent but if I were to pick a favorite I think it would be the eskimo. Your original carvings are outstanding in my opinion.

Ken, it looks as though you've received that "God given talent" that we all talk about, great carvings.
