Default Sign your work?

I mostly whittle flat plane style, small pieces- little figures size of my thumb, wine stoppers, wooden pens-
I'd like to sign some or all of my work, but have not hit on a good way to do so, largely cuz of the size (or lack of size?)
Do you all sign your carvings/whittlings? How?

I haven't signed any small whittled pieces, but I have carved my initials into larger reliefs that I do now - see below the balcony on this mill.

I whittle pieces that are about 2" tall and 1" in diameter. Typically, the bottom if the piece is large and flat enough that I can write my name and the date. I can't "sign" my name, but I can legibly print "J. Mischel 06/2010" with a ball point pen.

I use a kolrosing knife (seen here): Pinewood Forge Catalog
and cut my initials into all my carvings, usually on the back of figures, or on the hat. You can check the referenced web site to see kolrosing techniques for pushing the knife while doing your initials. In addition, I try to sign the bottom of each piece with signature and date.

I do small stuff, and sign with one of those fine line roller pens. If I remember I carve a flat spot on the back of the carving for this signing.

I make spoons, so also don't have much room. I use a small v-tool to carve my initials into the back of the bowls.

I either carve or write with a fine roller pen on the bottom, the sole of the shoe my brand and the year

I alwas sign and date (or initial if very small) everything I do. ho knows if a kid or friend will have one of your carvings years from now and wonder about it..the signature will make it more personal and meaningfull to them.

Wow, thanks for the responses. you've all talked me into signing or at least initialing my pieces, and given me plenty of examples to try.
