Default Show and Tell

It's been so long since I've posted something, that I nearly forgot how! There's been a polite note at the top of the page when I open the WCI forum page that points out that I haven't posted anything in several weeks, so I figure I should post something.
It's not flat-plane, but it us Scandinavian-styled. I'm calling it a potporri pot. It's a birch shrink pot (a green bolt of birch, bored and carved hollow, with a seasoned 1/4" basswood set into a groove cut into the pot towards the base, then dried so the base is sealed in), with a butternut top and basswood knob. The pot was cut through to form the spirals and, suprisingly, didn't break!
The idea came from the Fox Chapel book "Celebrating Birch"... a fantastic book, btw...

Tim.

Beautiful work. The changes in wood types really helps accent the shapes.
You have a lot of patience.

Hello Tim. I'm glad you decided to post again. That birch shrink pot is super nice. I saw a birch cup with the bark still on years ago before I began carving and I always wanted to make one. Yours is something I wouldn't mind trying.

Nice work. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback, folks. I've really been hooked lately on this type of greenwood woodcraft.
