Default Rosebud Bottle Stopper
In keeping with my preference to whittle things that are useful, here's a little rosebud bottle stopper I just finished. I've been thinking about it for a while and had a good picture in my mind so it went quickly for me, less than an hour to whittle. Wood is Paulownia, silicone stopper from Rockler, I counter bored the bottom so the leaves would hang down around the mouth of the bottle. I don't usually paint, but this one needed the color. I was trying to imitate a faceted glass or crystal rose, I came close, will get closer on the next one. Too many cuts on this one. Unpainted pic is in case I screwed up the paint job.

Glad you were able to picture it in your mind. This is essential to progressing beyond the cut-for-cut following of a carving tutorial to creating your own work. You will find it much more satisfying too.
