Default Oscar

Hi All,
My latest little guy.
I feel he is my best so far. Just a slight boo-boo with the facial shading. His face colour is close to his shirt colour.
I watched Kung-Fu Panda with my kids tonight and I got to thinking. "Kung-Fu Panda - - - fun carving project - - - might try"
No one warned me that starting to carve would see me viewing all sorts of "weird" stuff as a potential project lol.
To think I have only been at it just 4 months. What must you guys and gals that have been at it for a decade or more think like? Tee-hee.
Later All,
Rob.

Looking great, Rob. I, too, have noticed that I look at lots of things differently now. I find I study faces more closely, for example. And I'm building a catalog in my head of different dog and cat poses. It's possible that my neighbor's pony is a little unsure of me 'cause I've been known to sit staring it for long periods with a knife in my hand.

Interesting how taking up wood carving has made me look at the rest of the world quite differently.

Nice job Rob, It looks like you are getting that flat plane carving down pat.
Interesting grain in your wood, and nice paint job.

Great job Rob. Once the knife goes into the carving hand position, your mind turns to potentials. I think the Panda would make an excellent carving. Make sure to post pics.
Great carving. Wanda

Rob,
Your doing fine, keep up the good work. You will also find yourself looking at how to incorporate all kinds of different materials into your carvings.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

Nice work, Rob - I'm not sure I could do that minimalist of a flat plane carving. I keep having this overwhelming desire to "round off"....
