Alex...I've been carving for almost 10 years and I STILL can't do a flat plane carving!. You've got a good start going. Keep practicing and you will see how much better you get, each time you try one. I am in love with carving in the round, and my knife just wants to go that way, but I LOVE this type of carving. Keep at it! Bonnie
