Default My Biggest Demand

I have to admit now that believe it or not .. the biggest demand for a carving I get is this guy ..

I have alot of friends and church people who like this one the best for a father or grandfather ..

A simple older man with a cane .. I bet I have carved more of these then any one figure ..

Its funny what people like and even though this guy isnt my favorite carving .. He is the one I get more request for .. Some with the cigar and others without ..

I could probably carve him in my sleep now ..I have carved so many of them .. who could of figured it ..

He's jelutong this time and about 5 inches high .. carved with only a knife and v tool

Gene

Your too darn good at it that's why. I like that figure too. I think my favorite are your hobos.

Well they are great little carvings Gene, and maybe everyone know some that looks just like him. But I am with Corey, on the Hobos. I like them a lot.

Gene, people like him because he is everyone's grandparent. He is dignified and fun at the same time. When you look at him you have to smile and it triggers some warm fuzzy thoughts. I can totally understand why he is a favorite.

Well Gene, maybe because you have done so many of him, he is perfection and that is the way I see him as well, great little carving Gene, thanks for sharing.

I'm always happy to see your work Gene but I'de have to say my favorite is the next one you'll show me how to do...
I think its a treat to see anything you've done.you get more done with a knife and v tool than some do with a whole shop.

Thanks everyone .. Joy is right on with her answer .. everyone see's their father or grandfather in this one ... but I agree with Corey and and Tom .. My favorites are hobos ... but hobos make us think of being pennyless and broke .. and most people dont like to think of that now .. especially with our 401 K'S going in the tank ...

I know in Texas .. you cant hardly sell a black bear ... but in the hills of Tennessee you can sell them all the time ..

in Texas .. you make a cowboy standing on a base shaped like Texas .. you can sell them all day ..

the area depends the desire
