Thanks everyone
I have learnt a lot from doing this carving. I started off following the book but found it easier just to look a finished picture of oscar and work from that, than following step by step. It took me around 6 hours to finish and I am pleased with the results and looking forward to doing another really soon.
I used Vallejo acrylic paints that I had already from painting plastic model kits. I am really pleased with how they look on the wood..I think I need to put something over the to for protection though, Like a matt varnish maybe ??

I am waiting for some felxcut gold compound and I will use an old leather belt as a strop. I hope this will bring the back up to really sharp ?
