A week or so back I posted my first ever carving that I did in pine with a utility knife. I did this while I was waiting for my Flexcut knives to arrive and while I was sourcing some lime. well my knives arrived and so did my lime...so time for my first attempt at flat plane carving and my second attempt at carving altogether. Any advice really appreciated ![]() |

That's a great looking Flat Plane Carving, forget your first. I could never get the hang of Flat Plane Carving, to me that's hard. Keep it up. Merle

![]() Speaking as a mathematician, and being pedantically precise, all carvings are flat plane. Taking it to the extreme, the boundary between any two molecules is "flat", so even a "smoothly rounded" figure is nothing more than a carving with microscopically-small adjacent flat planes... but, of course, you all knew that, so I apologize for being reiteratively redundant on the subject... ![]() Claude ps: I still think it's a great carving!
