It's funny how a single unrelated post could revive a 1 year old thread of mine...

Even funnier is that right now, I am waiting for the new book from Harley Refsal to work on his new characters.

But thanks for the new comments guys...

Gilles

Hey Gilles. That's a great carving whatever you decide to call it. Don't be discouraged that you couldn't replicate Harley's style, it's better to develope your own anyway. As for reaching for that gouge, just go ahead and do it. I advocate using the best tool for the job that you have in your toolbox, and if that gouge would work better, then get it out and make some chips. Once again, a very nice carving, one to be proud of.

Well, it's been a year since I did this one, and I learned a lot since that time.

I am know able to complete a carving with only a knife, have better knives than back then, and am also beginning to find my style.

But I remember that back then, I had problems using Harley Refsal's knife technique. I think that I try it again this year, just for fun, now that I have more experience with a knife.

And when I receive his new book, I will have more updated info on his technique.

Gilles
