Default Help!

earlier today I posted some pics of golf ball carvings that I was going to be selling. I emailed them to my Dad and his boss loves them, and wants to know how much and where to send the check. Now I don't need help on where to send the check, but I could use some help on price. Realistically, what should I ask for these things. They will be mounted individually on a small block of wood. I have about $4.00 a peice in materials. Maybe 1 hour each in labour. $10 bucks a piece what what I thought. What do you think?

Mark

You can view them at my previous post. "My first commissioned golf ball carvings"

Thumbs up Re: Help!

Mark .. I use to charge about $10.00 A piece for a golf ball .. but with a base and materials // dont forget shipping .. around $15.00 to$20.00 is about right ..

Dont sell yourself short .. because you might get more orders when others see your work ..

Gene

Mark, Gene is correct, Most carvers do sell themselves short or the carvings to cheap. What would you like to mak an hour is a good question to look in to. I don't think Gene is off the mark on $15.00 to $20.oo apiece. If you have $4.00 just in the materials then your time and shiping like Gene said.

You don't want to get to the point of filling lots of orders and dreading doing so.

So lets look at it more realistic, You have $4.00 in material plus, say $10.00 an hour for labor, You have $14.00 in it already,Not counting painting and mounting, then there is shipping. So ,,,$15.00 to $20.00 per piece is very realistic in my opinion.

Interesting...I Have been told to double the cost of supplies and ten dollars an hour for your time. That would make it about $18. Just like the other folks said, between $15 and $20. Even at that your profit is not going to be that much. Obviously the man is impressed with your work as you should be. Go for it!
