Default Grasshopper

Here is my latest little guy. My first attempt at branching out into something "original". My drawing, scaling and template etc. I might stick to known patterns for a while longer.
I messed up the template a little as I was aiming for the big male Kangaroo fighting stance (the one you need to avoid being closer that 10 feet too!) and got - - baby joey begging for bread.
I got a rave review from my littlest girl with her standard "Aww he is so cute" so I was encouraged to play a little with our Australian idioms and paint him green.
A lot of us bushies call Kangaroo's - - - grasshoppers. This makes perfect sense on a Friday night after three beers trust me.
From each project comes a lesson when you are a learner like myself though and at this point I feel brave enough to say "I think I got the Flat Plane Style" with this Kangaroo.
i.e. A minimum of big flat cuts to convey a recogniseable image.

Now if I could just get on with it instead of Painting House, Mowing Lawns, Servicing Cars, Garbage Runs and the myriad warmer weather welcome to the end of Winter chores around here I would be my happy, lazy old slef.

Rob you are off to a good start. I like it and have not had any thing to drink YET! You will never have enough time to carve.

A green kangaroo is certainly unique! I like it, Rob. Gotta say, though, when I first saw the title I thought I was gonna see an insect. . .

Rob,
I'm with Jim I was expecting a bug. It was a pleasant surprise. I like originals. I think that sometimes you learn more from your own creations. You try things differently because you don't have a guide to follow. Keep up the good work.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

I'm another one who was expecting a little green bug. I like your Joey better. You did great. In fact, I love it. The green makes it even better.

According to the Wikipedia entry:

The collective noun for kangaroos is a mob, troop, or court

Although there's some disagreement about the last one. I'm not so sure people actually say, "look at that court 'o roos!"
