Default Gerald Ekern book

I noticed a seller has listed Gerald Ekern's book on Ebay with more than 10 copies available. Price is $9.95 delivered if I remember correctly. I know nothing about this book and haven't seen a review on it but have seen used copies online at about $35. Does anyone know if it's worthwhile?

Excellent book, mine is wire ring bound, so it lays flat when open and at $9.95 it's a steal.
There are a number of flat plane patterns, some instructions, but what is there is excellent.
Gerald Ekern passed away a few years ago.

I took several classes from him. He was an excellent instructor.

His book contains 15 projects with patterns. There are three Santa project. His project take on a scandinavian look. For each project there is a step by step description of how to do the carving.

There is a section on painting your carving including the face. A section on carving facial features and shaping a cut-out.

If you are into caricature carving, this would be a worthwhile purchase, especially if you are a beginner.

Thanks for the feedback. I ordered one. Gene Messer's vids have helped a lot. I am a beginner and also like books to have something to look at for the detail cuts. The seller mentions it being wire bound and on a special stain resistant stock so I look forward to receiving it.

I just bought one on EBay. Thanks for posting it. I'm interested in the flat plane patterns he has to offer. As soon as it cools off down here, it's back to the shop and belly up to the carving bench! I have been in the house chip carving, but am waiting to get some more flat plane figures going.

The book is Caricature Wood Carving with gold medalist Gerald Ekern. I noticed that the seller has now added $2 shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
