Hi Dan, I don't think I know anything about flat plane carving either Dan!
Thanks for the nice comment on the carving though.

Wanda, you are coming along nicely. Don't worry too much about all flat planes on it or making it exactly like Genes. Your doing fine.
Corey

Thanks Corey, I had to break away from carving cane segments and I have been watching some of Gene's videos on YouTube. I had a piece of scrap left over and thought I'd try flat plane.
Anyone know of a book I can read and re read?

Thanks John. Yeah he is small. He was made from a piece too small for my friendship cane exchange. He is a whopping 1 3/4 inches tall and 1 x 1 wide.
Hey John, where did the Blinky Bill come from?

Cool little guy, nice work.

Getting the flat plan style down is tough, I can never seem to limit the number of plans in my carvings.

Thanks for looking and commenting Mark.

Ken, Is there a magic number of planes to have?

What makes something a true flat plane carving?

Hopefully Gene will pop in and lend me a hand too.

Thanks Herb for looking and commenting. I thought he was in the flat plane style. But wasn't sure. I plan on making him a bottle stopper for a fellow sailor that inspired me to carve him. Of course, the sailor is a bit taller!
