Default Female face attempt

I'm planning on doing a piece with 7 figures in it as a longer term project but it depends on whether I can get a half decent looking female in the frame!
This is my first attempt at a female face. The lips are a bit suspect and she put her make-up on whilst on the back of a horse! LOL!
Well... nothing ventured... eh?!
I've dipped her in the BLO which has calmed down the colours a bit and slightly blurred the sharp lines.
Critiques and comments would be appreciated. I was wanting to keep her 'flat plane' looking so she'll fit in with the other guys in the scene so just used the knife on her.
She's 2" x 1-1/2" .

Lookin' good, Simon. Beyond the paint, which you've already mentioned is heavier than is usual for you, I'd suggest making the face a little bit thinner. Right now it looks just a bit flat. Making it thinner would allow you to round it a bit more.

Simon,
Well I think she looks pretty good. I like here alot better than any of the females that I have attempted. Keep up the good work.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

Nice job there Simon. I think you did good! I would think a female in flat plane would be the toughest of all due to the angles as generally a female is much smoother in the face. Good job. In making a rounder face I think you just have to use trickery and use even more planes... mini planes.

Thanks Ed, Hal and Mark.
Corey and Jim. It is a tricky one. THe dilema is trying to keep the flat plane style but creating smoothness and roundness... but with flats! LOL! Think it's a bit of a 'trade-off'. Any angular stuff makes her look masculine and any lines old! Plus I dont want her to look out of place in amongst other flat plane blokes! I think when I come to do the actual figure I'll maybe do the head seperately and that'll give me a bit of leeway! Meantime I'll have another couple goes on some scrap for practice.
Thanks for the input guys!

Simon try her in straight flat plane, with the hair and your painting and maybe the way you dress her would be better. Just a thought, what you did looks good, the paint would do it!?
