Default Easy little penguin

My mother, who has recently moved from Oz to NZ, collects 'penguins'. So, I've carved her this little emperor penguin for her collection. It's just under 3-1/4" tall. (nae surprise there, eh? ) I drew it up from a wee plastic model one. Only took an hour to whittle away at. I've attached a pattern if any one's interested in having a go at it. Think I'm gonna carve another, it was a fun quck-fix!

That's a nice one, Simon! Think I'll give it a try.

Your pattern says "75 mm". That's just under 3 inches, not 3.5. How big is the block that you started from?

Thanks Ron.
Jim, I've already got my blocks cut 32mm x 32mm x 80mm for my 'wee guys'. It fits on that just offset a bit. 35mm x 75mm would fit on straight and square to the base.

Thanks, Simon. I've got a bunch of 1" x 1" (25 mm x 25 mm) pieces. I guess I could shrink the penguin to 60 mm or so . . .

Simon... That's great work and thanks a bunch for being so generous with your pattern. I've carved a couple of penquin eggs but have never tried one from a pattern. Looks like fun!

Simon,
Great job. Glad to see you broadening your horizions there. I was a litlle concerned today when I didn't see any new carvings from you. I have no idea how I missed this earlier but was glad to find it later in the evening. Thanks for sharing and for providing a pattern, that is very nice of you.
Keep up the good work.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

Thank you Kenny and Gene. Glad you like it.
Eddie, I was lookin about for a penguin pattern but couldn't find one so I just doodled it out from a plastic one.
Thanks Mark! .... but I'm scurrying back to my 'wee guy' hole again! LOL! I sort of felt compelled to do the Penguin co s everytime I phoned my folks my dad would ask "How's the carving going?.......... your mother collects little Penguin ornaments!" So, I thought it would be nice to do. Got three sets of 'trios' planned for the wee guys!.... plus one to paint! Back's on the mend thankfully!
