hey those are great. i wish i was that good... i might need to practice for a few years. i am only 15 and am thinking of buying some wood and a knife to add to my pile. i was wondering what knife you use and if those little guys are all carved out of a solid piece of wood. thanks for your time,

Travis

So that's what a niche looks like. I hope someday I find one.
You do good work - these little guys are really fun to look at.

Thank you guys for all your kind comments. Sorry I haven't been around much lately but just caught up with other things at the moment.
@ Travis
HI there, that's great you 've taken up carvin at a young age and the guys on here will be a great help and inspiration to you I am sure.
I carve my wee guys from a solid block of 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" x 3-1/8" lime wood (basswood). If they are holding something I carve this seperate and drill a hole through the hand to hold it. (I normally drill the hand block first then finish off the finger/thumb/hand detail afterwards.)
Like everyone else I guess, I've got quite a few knives but my first knife and the one I still use nearly all the time is a Flexcut KN13 Detail Knife. I thijk everyone has their favourite knife
I've posted a Wee Guy Pattern on the forum somewhere which might help to let you see how I go about drawing the outline etc. Safe carving and keep that glove on!
