Question any tips on carving a bride and groom?

hi
id like to carve a flat plane figure of a bride and groom for my older sisters upcoming wedding. i wonder if anyone has any patterns or ideas on how to do this. Im looking for a pretty simple carving, with no props, just a bride and a groom.
thanks for your time

Travis

Harley Refsal's book has a couple of patterns that work real good for what you want. They are flat plane, and you can make them into a bride and groom.

Gene Messer did a shotgun wedding scene about a year ago. He has video tutorials on carving the bride, groom, minister, father, and mother. See http://blog.mischel.com/gene-messers-carving-videos/#20100627_WhittlingTheShotgunWeddingScene.

There is a bride & groom wedding cake topper in my gallery titled "Wedding Couple:"

It is not flat plane style, but may give you some ideas. Tips: 1) Don't try to carve it as small as the plastic cake toppers. 2) Try to match the colors of the wedding couple's outfits. 3) Include some individual characteristics such as hair style, etc.
A personalized figure like this makes a big impression on the guests as well as the couple.
Good luck -

A Rufus and Sadie or something similar makes a unique wedding cake topper
