Default Another practice flat plane - Gerry

I just finished this one, again inspired by Gene Messer designs and adapted.

I just dipped it in Minwax and will see how I will finish it later.

It was meant to be a practice piece and a model for future projects. This guy is some kind of a baseball judge, or maybe a golfer thinking about his next shot. I don't know yet who he could or should be. And that's what will decide on the colors.

Any comments welcome, but don't forget it is a practice piece. While carving it, I realized that I needed to work more on the mouth for the next one. But you can tell me what you like or don't like so I can keep learning.

Thanks,

Gilles.

looks great! but I wonder, have even the masters finished "practicing". Golfer or ump, or could be a verry old caddy, all he needs is an overwighted bag hanging off his shoulders....lol

Whatever you decide Gilles, he is certainly indicating "attitude".

Attitude? ... yeah, maybe...

When I worked on it, I had a couple of real people that were always coming back in my head, and it ended up in a mix of both of them for the look. The first one is a neighbor always lurking and checking what people are doing, and the second one is an ex-coworker with THAT attitude...

And it is true that we never stop learning, one way or another. I began painting it and I like it more now than when I just stopped working on it. I realized that sometimes I judge the result not by how it looks, but by how close I got to what I had in mind.

Ok, again...
I need to remember that all I need to do is have fun and practice
I need to remember that all I need to do is have fun and practice
I need to remember that all I need to do is have fun and practice
I need to remember that all I need to do is have fun and practice
...

Thanks for looking,

Gilles

Looks good, Gilles. I like his pose. Seems I've heard that "have fun and practice" comment somewhere. Thanks for sharing.
