Default Another Butternut Fellow

I have had a request for alot of flat plane figures lately and heres the next one .. The demand is for the simple figure that just says flat plane style and make sure it looks like its carved ..

So here he is standing at 4 inches tall ..

these are fun little guys .. and people just like the small ones so much more ..

Carl .. you know your probably right about that ... I have had my suspicions since the guy gave it to me .. he said he was told it was butternut ... and I have never carved butternut ... but I always thought it was a darker color then this is ..

It is fantastic to carve and takes detail wonderfully .. but now Iam curious about what it is .. It is definately not basswood ..

Any of you guys got any idea .. its a light color .. are there lighter forms of butternut ?

I don't know of any Butternut that looks like that, there are around 13 species of Butternut.
It looks like Tupelo maybe, but I am not sure someone will know what it is.

Gene another great little figure. Love those little guys. Wish I could get that style down as well.

When you posted the first one I wondered about the butternut as it has a very pronounced grain. I am thinking it is Jelutong which is a fine carving wood as well.
