Why is it that you never see someone say, "This is my 2, 145th carving?" This is my third carving and I suppose I'll count them at least into double-digits :-) This is the 5-minute wizard. It was spawned from watching Gene's video on it and my desire to make more wood chips. I'm not thrilled with it but also not disappointed. The one tough thing was trying to make beard lines with a Dockyard V-tool (1.5mm or a wee bit more than 3/64"). It was just not up to the task, at least in my hands. Thus, I feel the beard treatment is too shallow. What size V-tool do people use for hair on 4-6" characters in the flat-plane style? I need to go shopping :-) Besides, I now have more carvings than tools. Must maintain parity. Last edited by Larry Marshall; 03-31-2009 at 09:47 AM. Reason: add photos |

| Thanks, Kenny. At just about twice the size of the tool I was trying to use, that sounds about right. I've got to do some 'learnin' about gouges, v-tools and such.

To solve the other problem that's been pointed out, I'm trying again to include the photos. Not sure why they aren't there as they showed up in the preview. You'll see the problem that's causing me to hunt for a V-tool :-) |

Larry, I believe many use a knife to give varied grooves as well as the V tool. It looks like you are "on a roll".

| Those who do are better than I. I tried it and really made a mess. I just don't have enough control over the knife tip at this point. Almost broke out the Dremel but I resisted :-)
