Default You'd Better 'DUCK' For Cover Walking Stick

Haven't posted here in quite a while but I've been doing a little 'lurking' lately and thought that I'd pay-up on my dues. This is my latest walking stick that I finished up a couple days ago, using a poplar stick that I picked up many years ago.

The natural shape easily led me to carving a mallard duck head. To enhance the stick I added some painted duck tracks just below the head. If you look very closely, you can see that I 'layered' two different shades of green acrylic paint for the feathers (and) two different shades of yellow ochre for the bill. I went on to lightly sand the dried paint to achieve a nice two-toned coloring and thus giving the duck an antiqued look. I then added a humorous wording sure to crack a smile. Finished with a high gloss polyurethane.

Glad that I finally got this 'quacker' finished after staring me in the face for probably ten years!

Hi Dave, it is really good to see you back here again. I visit your Youtube videos from time to time and I've noticed you haven't been around much. Thank you for posting the photos of your duck stick. It is a another real beauty and very well done.
