Default Woodthreading Kits

Hello, I'm looking at these Woodthreading Kits at woodcraft and was wondering what size I need for a regular lowes 1 1/8" dowl? And what sized drill bit? I know sometimes you need a smaller size than you would think. Here is a link to the kits...

I just found out they won't work with the 1 1/8", so would have to use the appropriate size.

The instructions at http://www2.woodcraft.com/PDF/77A32.pdf mention that the drill size is 1/8 inch smaller than the dowel.

I have four sizes of the threading kits and have made quite a few nuts and threads. Take a caliper with you as the dowels are close but not exact to the size. Now make sure that it is straight. Soaking the dowel with Linseed Oil seems to help the threading process for me. Oak is usually terrible, while generic whitewood is usually great. Walnut works surprisingly well, as does Cherry. I do threaded caps on the top of sticks this way.
