Realized I didn't have a Woodspirit in any of my Sticks,so elected to upgrade one of my finished Sticks. The Stick is Basswood and stained dark, so when carving it was like carving in reverse. ( Carving in wood that has a finish already). Wanted a light finish for contrast and also wanted to see how Shoe Cream would look. Turned out OK. Improved the appearance o9f the Stick. I like it now. Merle

Thanks Dan,I realy didn't like the Stick the way it was so had nothing to loose. The Spirit added to it and now I can call it mine. Oh, by the way Dan it's Basswood, you know the soft stuff. Ha,Ha. Merle

I'm with Dan, the wood spirit brought the stick to life. Very nicely done. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Merle, You always surprise me with your perspective on things. Who'da thunk it! Carving in reverse. It sure came out nice and that great carving didn't hurt it a bit. I like your leather grip, too. A nice touch.

Hi Ron, I did that Stick last year and was never pleased with it,it seemed to lack something and just stood in the corner colecting dust. By putting the face in it seemed to be the answer, as ED H. said it came to life. now I like it. It's mine till someone wants it, you know that feeling. Ha,Ha. The Leather Grip is from Tandy Leather, I woodburned a design on the other side and is laced up the front. I have always wanted to carve an American Eagle and feel it's time for me to give it a shot. I ordered a book today and it is supposed to tell how to glue it up and get you started off on the right foot. The book is " Carving an American Eagle By Paul White. The title sounds like the right book,HUH!. Ha,Ha. Stay Well Ron..... Merle

Merle, I think that's a great job.... I love making canes... I make them and never sell them... I give them away... I take them to church and when I see a elderly person walking with one... I walk up to them and ask them if they would like to have it... When they take it.... just warms the heart...
