My mistake Eric... sorry. I got the impression from your first post that your concern was that you liked the carving but wanted a more robust handle for everyday which made you choose the derby and forego the carving. I just thought you might like to have the best of both worlds if you were aware of the options. The plain derby stick looks great in any case and, more importantly, its what you want.

Whittler my every day cane will see a lot of abuse so no carving needed but thank you for our suggestion for the derby style handle I will be carving some in the future.

I sure like your carved cane Eric and like the look of that handle too.Cedar is what I work with for now since there was a big pile of it to work from.I was curious how you did that handle too.Looks like you did a great job.
