Thank you for all of your kind wishes for my mom. I just got back tonight from North Carolina. We had to stay a bit longer than anticipated. The appointment my mom had on last Weds turned out to be just a doctor appointment with the specialist who would do the stent in her carotid artery.

The doctor couldn't do the actual procedure until the following Monday, day before yesterday. And it was not a simple procedure which would allow her to go home same day. It was similer to a heart cath and she had to spend the night in hospital afterwards and even needed a unit of blood. But we got it done, got her back home, then had to come back to Floriday to my husband's mother, who is also having problems.....I feel like a ping pong ball.

But, I will be sleeping in my own bed tonight and hopefully working in my studio tomorrow....

I hate Florida but it sure is good to be home. Many thanks to all the well wishers. It was appreciated.

Glad things went fairly well for your mother. It isn't easy taking care of parents. Best wishs for you all.
Now, relax a little and get that stick started.

SusieQ... Glad that you made it back to the land of mosquitos and hot muggy nights safe and sound. Also happy to hear that your Mom made it through her procedure okay! You ain't missed much except a lot of rain which probably showed up in your yard in the form of an overgrown yard!!!!!

Hi Suzie,

Sorry to hear both your Mothers are having health issues, but glad you're doing okay. Too bad you don't like FL. I spent a year there in my RV, we loved it. It's like Hawaii, mosquitos and all.

Since you're there, you might try to get some melaleuca sticks, especially since the state is trying to eradicate them. They're kind of hard but they'e straight and make great walking sticks. I have two from there and wish I had more. I just posted a pic in my gallery of my first carving of a wood spirit.

Good luck with your stick carving.

Yes, long distance caring/worrying over elderly parents is not a fun thing. But mom is much much better today. Spoke with her this morning. Mike's mom is 16 years older than my mom. She is 96 and going down hill fast lately. But she is handy to us, right here in town.

Eddy, our yard looked like a jungle when we got back. all of my bonsai need a good trim too.

Ron, I had no idea that melalucca trees could be carved! They call them "punk" trees and I just figured they were soft and nasty wood. Great woodspirit you did out of that. I might just have to try it. Thanks for the info.
