REALLY nice job on that woodspirit windsong. Nose & eyes look sorta similar to Shawn Cipa's style from the Woodspirits & Greenmen book with Pye & Irish. Excellent job. I LOVE this woodspirit hiking staves. So what's a "hamefest" and where is it? Sounds interesting.

Hi Windsong,

Very nice woodspirit and so fast. You're very good at what you're doing.

The dark bark and reddish wood lead me to think that you have Alder there and not birch. Though Alder is a member of the Betulaceae (Birch) family most people think of white or paper birch when you say "birch".

Great woodspirits btw!! Good luck at your festival.

Your detail is as good as it gets. Nice job and good luck on peddlin' a few of them!

As for the birch I use a lot of the sweet birch here in western North Carolina but my birch seems a bit more "shiney" than yours yet still very similar. They make great walking sticks.
