I am just getting started with making a two-piece walking stick. I want to put a decorative handle onto a shaft that can be shipped from here in Alaska. I bought some brass couplers but, would like something in 1 1/2"- 1 1/4" size to dress up the joint. I have ordered some spacers from a knife supply company. Does anyone have a suggestion that might work for me...........thanks, Boydman |

Many of the woodworking/woodcarving tool suppliers also sell stickmaking supplies. You would probably get more usable replies if we knew what part of the world that you are in. Not your address but just the general area. Marvin |

Hey Marvin, Yea, I am new to this forum....I live in bush Alaska. I bought some supplies from Treeline in Utah. Lookin for something larger than the 1" coupler that they have. Greg |

I don't know if this will help you where you are, but I've had 'out-of-standard-size' metal parts made for me by a fabricator friend of mine from time to time. Small stuff like that doesn't take long and isn't that expensive when you look at it as a proportion of the value of the finished stick. Its only about an hours work (or less) for a guy with a metal lathe.

Waitpinga, I went on line and looked up some more into after I read you message. I found an article that sounded pretty good. I will try some different ideas. I have a machinist nearby and will speak with him. You have helped me and I do appreciate your input. I worked with Australian officers while assigned to Hawaii... always good memories.....thanks again for your input.... Greg |

Pleasure mate, Hope it works out for you. Wouldn't mind seeing a photo or two when you get it done.
