| | Stick of many Faces I finally finished my Stick of many Faces. It's Basswood and has 7 Faces. Finished my usual way,BLO, Acrylic Paint for Eyes, Polyu,Watco Dark Wax, Feed n Wax. I could see a big difference from my 1st and Last Face. That's good right.lol. My first Face took Days and last 3 Faces took about 5 hours each. I did'nt try to hurry, things just seemed to come together and before I realized it It was finished. I have seen in DVD's that to start a Face use a corner to start the nose and that gives you the basic shape of the Face. I don't know if the Cane Carvers do this but I took a thin piece of Plastic and cut a 90 Deg. Angle in it andf used it as a Template to cut the 90 Deg, angle on my Stick. That has helped me a lot, as I am getting started on the right Foot. I mentioned this as it might help someone when doing their Stick.
I took the Pictures from top to Bottom hoping you could see how the Facse are placed. It was fun doing, may will do another someday. Merle

| | Re: Stick of many Faces Hi Mere, super carving and finishing on your 'Sticks'. The Watco Dark Wax really brings out the lines of the face and beards.
Kathy Thanks, for including the products you used for the finishing process. |

| | Re: Stick of many Faces I really like your stick Merle, it's like it has multiple personalities.
I have seen you tip in one of the wood carving magazines it had to do with a gnome face.
