I carved this stick a while back and it was supposed to be a female but didn't look quite right and had not sold (1st pic). The face was flat and the proportions were not good. So I decided to re-carve the same stick recently and see what happens now that I have a better understanding of facial structure. This is what happened. At least it looks a bit more like a female now (although a bit sad). It sold immediately. I had never done that before and now know it is possible, as long as you have enough space left to carve. Thanks Lundy

Lundy, That is remarkable. I love the difference between the first and final attempt. What type of finish did you have on the first carving and did it affect the cutting on the recarve? Safe Carving and God Bless, Mark |

Thanks Mark. The finish was the same on both. I always use General Finish Satin Arm-R-Seal Oil/Urethane topcoat on my sticks and canes. I just carved right through it with no problem. The difference in color is just different lighting while taking the photo. Lundy
